So Sean and I have witnessed what seems to be some abnormal behavior around these parts…

It started last night before our “pizza with the neighbors” gathering.  Sean got home with the pizza and I was helping him finish cleaning up.  The kids were in the backyard and then I saw them go into our storage shed.  I came out to check on them and found them playing “poker” together.  The key word of the last sentence was not “poker” but TOGETHER!

The abnormal behavior continued today when Bree wanted to swing on the sled and Bauer was already climbing up on it.  I mentioned casually that the sled was made for two people (I’ve mentioned this to her only about 1000 times in my life).  But just like some lightbulb went on in her head, this time she got on the other side.  And as if I had just performed some crazy magic trick, they went back and forth and back and forth squealing TOGETHER for about 10 minutes.

We ended the night at Pei Wei and for the first time ever when the four of us were in a restaurant, Sean and I sat on one side of the table and the kiddos were on the other.  They were very cordial to each other…shared some edemame and fortune cookies.  We had a very successful dinner TOGETHER.

Tonight after dinner, we were watching football in Sean’s office and the kids left the room.  After a few minutes we got nervous because we did not hear them.  Sean went to check and they were both seated at the activity table coloring TOGETHER!

I think some cosmic worlds have collided or maybe, just maybe, Bree and Bauer are becoming friends.

Now, don’t think I’m doing the happy dance about the budding best friends I’m raising yet, but I may have done a shuffle step or two in anticipation.

All you need is a little sign of hope each day….and this weekend has been full of them!

So there it is…documentation that there was some progress on the Bree and Bauer TOGETHERNESS phenomenon…tomorrow I’ll probably need to reread this about 10 times to make it through the day.

Oh toddlers…how you keep me guessing!
